10 Things You Must Do in London

“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet, he said.” -Rachel Wolchin

1. Go to Borough Market and get a donut from the Bread Ahead stand.
I’ve been raving about these donuts since I first had one a few months ago. They are DELICIOUS. You can get them at a number of markets around London, but Borough Market definitely has the best selection of flavors.

2. Have the high tea experience.
Regardless of where you go, high tea will be a blast. Drink some tea, enjoy champagne,  and eat some mini-desserts with your friends.

3. Wander around Harrods.
Go to the upper levels and look at some price tags. The 4-figure priced dresses are mind blowing. It’s fun to see, but ultimately will make you feel like the poorest person on the planet. Nonetheless, check it out.

4. Grab a drink at Tattershall Castle.
I’m sure if you’re visiting London you already have a plan to check out Big Ben and The Eye. Across the river from The Eye, there’s a boat that is actually an anchored bar/restaurant. You can sit on the deck, have a drink, and enjoy a view of both landmarks. This is my favorite place in all of London (as long as the weather is nice).

5. Have a picnic and wine on Primrose Hill.
Primrose Hill offers the prettiest sunset in all of London and the best skyline view. Grab a blanket and a bottle of wine, walk up that steep slope, and enjoy the sun going down. Once it gets dark, the skyline lights up and you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world.

6. Check out Camden and support the local artisans.
Camden is one of the coolest places in London. It’s hipster, “punky”, and has the most interesting types of people. You can buy everything here, whether it’s a souvenir, a ring custom made for you, or some knockoff Raybans. Check out the amazing street are and eat something from the huge selection of food-stalls.

7. Go to the theatre.
Whether it’s a huge famous play or a small, local one, the theatre in London is the best. You can even get pretty cheap tickets if your willing to go to the box office the day of the show and grab the left over seats.

8. Have a cocktail at The Shard.
If you want to look down on what seems like the entire city, you have to go to the Shard. There are a number of restaurants ranging from the 30th-50th floors, so pick your poison and enjoy the view.

9. Take a stroll through a park.
Regardless of which park you go to, London has the best. There’s Hyde Park, Regents Park, Royal Park, and so many more. Take a break from the city streets and breathe some fresh air.

10. And finally… if you have enough time, get out of the city!
There are endless English towns outside of London, each with their own special charm. If you have a free day, hop on a train and explore. You can check out my posts featuring some of the destinations that I would recommend: Stonehenge & Bath, Brighton, Warwick Castle & Stratford-upon-Avon & Oxford. Cambridge is great also, I just haven’t written a post about it (yet).

  1. Great list! I have been holding off on getting one of those donuts because I know it’s going to be amazing and I can only experience it for the first time once. I’ve also thought about going to get a drink at The Shard but it seems expensive. So is it really worth it? I’ve been debating if I should bring my friend there when she comes to town.
